The planning process for Grand Meadow Park has reached the point of determining the community garden and food forest layout. Learn more about the planning efforts for Grand Meadow Park and Friends of Grand Meadow here: About – Friends of Grand Meadow.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your thoughts about Grand Meadow Park! After 20+ years of waiting, construction is finally starting this year! Friends of Grand Meadow, in partnership with Austin Parks Foundation and local neighbors, created a Concept Plan in 2024 that includes a shade loop trail, pavilion, play lawn, playground, multi-use sports court, dog park, community garden, and food forest—while preserving much of the wildflower meadow. Picnic tables, trash cans, and other amenities will also be included. This summer APF will begin construction on the shade loop trail, part of the playground, play lawn, pavilion, and the community garden area.

Above is the proposed concept plan for the park, this survey and portion of the planning process focuses on the community garden (yellow area) and food forest (red area).

Now, we have a chance to shape how our urban agriculture spaces will grow food and community! Inspired by Festival Beach Food Forest, where volunteers transformed an empty field into a lush, edible oasis, our community has chosen to create a similar space alongside a community garden. This garden area could feature rental plots, shared growing spaces, or even a small community farm—depending on how we choose to connect with each other and the land.

Please take this brief survey to help guide the final design of these spaces and ensure they reflect the impact we want for our community.
