The Town of Waterbury has been working with Discover Waterbury and SLR Consulting to begin putting together preliminary concept designs for a floodplain restoration site at Randall Meadow.

Located behind the State Office Complex, this farm site can serve a crucial way to increase the floodplain capacity of the overall watershed. This site is located along the Winooski River, with the Cross Vermont Trail currently running along the elevated riverbank. The web map below shows the location of the site.

Currently, the site is in an environmental assessment phase, which is crucial to understanding the current environmental state of the property.

Once this phase is completed, there will be a conceptual design phase where town members will be given the chance to give feedback on what they would like to see on the property. After a preliminary "10% Concept Design" has been completed, there will be a Request for Proposal (RFP) put out to engineering and construction firms to create more in-depth concept designs.

Below is a quick overview of the project, as well as a tentative timeline, a cost-benefit analysis, and costs of the floodplain restoration project. All figures in the slideshow below are subject to change.
