The Big Idea

Chattanoogans want to connect. The One Chattanooga Plan calls for community involvement and investment in the city's investments and decisions. This project's goal, a multi-use greenway connecting the Tennessee Riverwalk to Lookout Valley, answers that call—with the urgency of now.
Traffic congestion on Interstate 24 has prompted the Tennessee Department of Transportation to study solutions to increase capacity around Moccasin Bend. Demand for housing is spurring development across the city, including up and down Lookout Valley, while a shortage of walkable, bikeable, and connected neighborhoods is pushing the price of those attributes out of reach for many. Community feedback documented in Chattanooga's Parks and Outdoors Plan (POP) shows that Chattanoogans want public greenspaces that facilitate connectivity, ensure safety, and offer a viable, environmentally responsible option to leave the car behind.
The time is at hand to get involved in plans to connect ALL neighborhoods of Chattanooga with a system of safe multi-use trails, protected bike lanes, and continuous walkways that take residents and visitors where they want to go no matter where they live.
