Shoals Park

A Place to Wander

Shoals Park sits along a quiet bend of the St. Mary’s River, where sandbars, longleaf pine forests, and open sky create a landscape that feels distinctly North Florida.

Visitors come for many reasons:

  • paddling and fishing along the river
  • hiking and horseback riding under the pines
  • responsible motorized trail riding
  • picnicking, wildlife viewing, and exploring

Whether you stay for an hour or the afternoon, Shoals Park offers space to roam.

Shoals Park Goals

Shoals Park is managed for the conservation, protection, and enhancement of natural resources, and for public outdoor recreation that is compatible with the conservation, protection, and enhancement of the park.

The desired future condition of the site is a preserved and protected ecosystem with passive recreational uses in the natural communities and active recreational uses restricted to those areas of the park site that have already been altered or disturbed.

To achieve that, Baker County and its partners will:

  • Develop outdoor recreation opportunities and facilities that improve public enjoyment of the park while preserving natural resources.
  • Provide outdoor recreation, interpretation, and education programs.
  • Preserve part of an ecological connection between the St. Mary’s River, the Osceola National Forest, and the Okefenokee Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Ensure recreational activities and improvements are aligned with sustainable forest management operations.
